Michelle Hunt-Graham's Biography


Michelle is a licensed Marriage and Family therapist and Certified Life Coach, wife and mother of teenage children. As a certified Narrative Therapist she uses Narrative ideas and approaches as the foundation of her work. Sometimes called collaborative therapy, the are a growing set of ethically based and innovative therapy ideas that recognize people use narrative, or story, to make meaning of their lives and identity and as such can re-author them. People re-author life according to intentions, purpose, values, beliefs, hopes, dreams, visions and commitments to ways of living. Michelle creatively consults with individuals, couples, families and groups in accessing resources and ideas that may or may not be fully considered in the hope that they might provide new possibilities and ways to address the concerns that bring people to therapy.

Michelle is also trained in both individual and group skills Dialetic Behavioral Therapy (DBT). The empirical evidence that supports the foundations of Dialetical Behavioral Therapy is extensive. This innovative protocol integrates a number of heavily researched and widely embraced therapeutic practices; including Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness and Acceptance-Based therapy and Dialetic Behavioral therapy to assist clients in reducing the influences of problems in their lives and relationships.

Michelle has also completed the Mindfulness based Stress Reduction instruction that helps people use mindfulness to respond to stress more effectively. This program has been proven to have significant influence in improving sleep disturbances, chronic pain, high blood pressure and anxiety.
